DAY 1: MONDAY, JUNE 20, 2005
(Rubgy to Napton)

Yet another scene of the North Oxford canal with it's many beautiful bridges. Notice that one side of the canal (right side in this photo) has a towpath or walking path. In the early days of the canal, that path was used by the mules or horses to pull the unpowered craft along the canal. Today, the towpaths are in good condition in most places and well used by walkers. The towpath side is also the place where you can moor. In fact, unless it specifically marked to prohibit it, you can moor anywhere along the canals as long as you do it along the towpath side.
