Yes, at times the trip was too long and boring for a sixteen year old. So, we weren't entirely unplugged during the trip. Between MP3s and "terrestrial" broadcast television on the boat, we managed to avoid turning into full-blown Luddites on the canals. Still, I'd say Tom Rolt's Luddite-themed book "Narrowboat" hit the mark on many occasions. There was plenty of time for reading, drawing and creating on the trip. Kyle did more of those things than the rest of us.
