DAY 5: FRIDAY, JUNE 24, 2005
(Tackley Area to Oxford)

This was the southern terminus of our trip. At this point, you either turnaround or go through the lock (Louse Lock) which takes you onto the River Thames. Going left is not an option. That route is a short arm (Hythe Bridge Arm) with permanently moored residential boats and no place to turn around. This winding hole is usable for boats 50 feet or less in length. We qualified, so we turned around here and moored no more than 50 yards behind the camera in this photo. We walked into the heart of the city by walking over that cast-iron bridge and along the residential boats until we got to Hythe Bridge Street.
