CREATIVE PROJECTS

World Wide Web Projects:

Broadcast Education Association Convention Management System (password protected)
Creator/Developer, Convention Management System for the Broadcast Education Association's BEA2006 and BEA2007 conventions. Created and implemented a database-driven web site to allow online submission of BEA convention panel submissions. The system allows division chairs to gain online access to the panels submitted to their respective divisions for the purposes of evaluation and ranking. The convention chair accesses a chair's section where panels can be edited, organized and automatically placed online. This eliminated an antiquated system where submissions were filled out in Word or PDF, attached via email to one or more of several divisions chairs, who would then forward the attachments to reviewers. The old method also required the rankings to be sent via email to the convention chair who would then copy and paste content into a word processing application and organize via cut and paste as well. Then, the chair would send the final word document to a web manager who would convert it to HTML and upload the file for online access. When changes were required, the chair would re-save the word document, re-send it to the web manager, who would once again covert it to HTML and upload it. The new system saves a tremendous amount of time and wasted energy.
