(Rubgy to Napton)
We hired a 43 foot narrowboat (Haddon) from Clifton Cruisers in Rugby, Warwickshire. Paul Garfield is the owner of Clifton Cruisers, and also the guy who took us out for our "tuition." This was our second narrowboat trip, so our orientation session was brief. Paul took us up the canal a couple of hundred feet to a winding hole (place to turn around), and then we dropped him off at the hire base and headed south out of Rugby. We got an early start. The normal start time is 2:00 p.m., but our boat was ready early and Paul let us leave at around noon.
