DAY 4: THURSDAY, JUNE 23, 2005
(Aynho Wharf to Tackley Area)

It doesn't matter how much boating you've done, when you're in a hire craft, those who frequent the canals readily offer their advice about proper boating technique and etiquette to us "amateurs". Occasionally, you'd pick up some useful information. After going by him, the guy under the red umbrella waved, smiled and said..."when you come upon anglers, keep to the middle." That made sense. They used long poles and would attempt to catch fish on the far side of the canal. So, although they'd raise their poles for you to go by, the last thing they wanted was for us to cruise along the side where they were attempting to hook a fish.
