Chirk
Aqueduct & Tunnel Day 5: Wednesday, June 25, 2003 This was taken as we approached Chirk Aqueduct on Wednesday morning, heading west toward Llangollen. At the other end of the Aqueduct is a turning point, followed immediately by the 459 yard Chirk Tunnel. The Llangollen Canal flows from west to east. When the water is constricted on the narrow aqueduct and in the narrow tunnel, the flow becomes even greater. So, you might have to "gun the engine" a bit more to fight the forces pushing against the boat. |
