(Cropredy to Aynho Wharf)
The River Cherwell enters the canal from the left, passes under the bridge on the right, and cascades down a small weir (dam) off the photo to the right. The wood railing on the side is to keep boats from getting pulled into the bridge when the water running across the canal is running swiftly. Straight ahead, just beyond the bridge (Bridge 188), is a lock used simply to control the flow of river into the canal system. That gate you see was the most difficult gate I opened on the entire trip. I guessed it was because there was some flow from the river pushing against it.
